I’ve seen this movie over a hundred times. Literally (those 24 hours of A Christmas Story marathons account for only half of them) hundreds. It wasn’t until this year, though, looking through my manshion (man fashion, simple.) goggles that I noticed Ralphie was killing it in the department store scene. It’s mind-bottling (hah) how much fashion has changed over the years. What was commonplace and around-the-house wear in the 50’s is our Sunday’s best these days. Oh, America. Perhaps after the recesh’ we can re-up on the dressing like we give a damn thing. Happy Holidays everyone. (Don’t worry, there will be more this week).
- Scene that inspired the post. Ralphie, well done.
- casually 3 piecin’ it. THIS GUY…
- it’s a rough life pal, but at least you still have that coat
- the old man delivers again! normals: disregard the hat. (though, hipsters I would advise you to get on this immediately as it is both ironic and unique, for the moment)
- nice coat, kid
- chunky knit sweaters – manshion approved. and oatmeal–also acceptable.
- excellent coats all around fellas (“Schwartz created a slight breach of etiquette by skipping the triple dare and going right for the throat [the triple-dog-dare]!”)
- the old man, doing well for himself, cardigan over 2/3 of the three piece, loosened skinny tie

You are spot on with this post. I can understand that most men wouldn’t feel “comfortable” in most get ups they donned around the house in the 50’s and 60’s, but I think in today’s world we can find some in between.
Then again, I’m so comfortable in a suit I’d wear one to bed.
